Barrett Amato is a native of Philadelphia, PA and he was imbued with a strong work ethic from a young age. During his time in film school at Temple University, he developed a love for editing. He quickly taught himself Premier, Final Cut Pro, and then Avid. After completing his BA in Film and Media Arts he moved to a chicken farm in Ventura County, California. There in Hopper Canyon he got his first lessons in how to pick oranges, clear brush and feed and water livestock without getting his ankles pecked (but he probably shouldn't go into that here).
When he finally moved to Los Angeles he landed his first job in the entertainment industry as a delivery driver for a post production rental company. This job had nothing to do with editing, but it gave him access to post departments of many production companies in the city. The technical skills he was able to pick up from the technicians also gave him an advantage when he was offered his first assistant editor position. Within a year of making that jump he had been promoted to lead assistant and then was offered a job editing. Barrett has been editing professionally for over 10 years and is no stranger to hard work. He is a passionate story teller and a lover of the craft of editing.
He would be an asset to your project.
